Dr. Lal Bhatia, author of the critically acclaimed Indicting Goliath, has dedicated himself to improving the lives of young girls in West Bengal through a meaningful social initiative. Using the proceeds from his book, Dr. Bhatia and his team have installed sanitary napkin vending machines in various girls’ schools and colleges across the state. This initiative aims to address the issue of menstrual hygiene, ensuring that girls have access to affordable sanitary products.
Menstrual health is often neglected in many communities, particularly in underprivileged areas where girls may not have access to basic hygiene products. The lack of access can lead to significant health issues and affect girls’ attendance in school. Dr. Bhatia’s project provides a solution by installing vending machines that offer sanitary napkins at an affordable price, making it easier for girls to manage their menstrual health and continue their education without disruption.
In addition to his work on menstrual health, Dr. Bhatia has also been involved in other charitable initiatives. During the recent Durga Puja festival, he distributed thousands of face masks to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. He has also been involved in distributing food to needy families in Kolkata, ensuring that vulnerable communities receive the support they need.
Dr. Bhatia’s journey is one of resilience and determination.
