Lal Bhatia, renowned for his inspiring book Indicting Goliath and his long fight for justice, has taken on a new mission to support menstrual hygiene for young girls in West Bengal. Bhatia and his team have installed sanitary napkin vending machines in various girls’ schools and colleges across the state, using proceeds from his book sales to fund the project.

Access to sanitary napkins is a major issue for many girls in underprivileged communities, where financial constraints and limited availability make it difficult to obtain basic hygiene products. This can lead to health issues, as well as disruptions in their education, as girls may miss school due to inadequate menstrual care. Bhatia’s initiative is designed to provide a solution to this problem by ensuring that sanitary napkins are readily available through vending machines placed in educational institutions.
The installation of these machines marks an important step toward improving menstrual hygiene and health in West Bengal. By making sanitary products affordable and accessible, Bhatia’s initiative helps ensure that girls can attend school regularly without worrying about menstrual care.
In addition to this project, Bhatia has also been involved in other charitable efforts. During the recent Durga Puja celebrations, he distributed thousands of face masks to promote public safety during the pandemic. He has also been active in distributing food to families in need, particularly in Kolkata.
Bhatia’s journey from fighting false charges in the United States [Reference Court Cases: CR-04-40071-CW, CR-05-00334-SBA, CV-09-05581-SBA and CV-10-00072-SBA] to becoming a philanthropist in India is an inspiring story of resilience and determination. His book Indicting Goliath recounts his 13-year legal battle and the injustice he faced. Now, he uses the proceeds from the book to fund initiatives that improve the lives of others, focusing on critical issues such as menstrual hygiene.
Through these efforts, Bhatia is making a meaningful impact on society, empowering young girls with the resources they need to lead healthier lives.
